Toby's Towing Blog: Advice and Information

Hey! My name is Toby, this is my blog. Have you ever considered what you would do if your car broke down on the side of the road? I hadn't given this much thought until it actually happened. I was driving into Sydney on the highway when my car started to make a very strange sound. Then the vehicle began to shake. Next, the engine cut out and I found myself stranded at the side of the road. Thankfully, my dad had signed me up with a towing service. I called them and they came right out and helped to recover my car.

Do you need help from a towing service?

by Tracy Fox

When you get in a car to start your journey, you will have a reasonable expectation you will get to your destination without any serious incidents. You might expect a little traffic congestion, but nothing more troubling. However, there is always the possibility that something could go wrong. Mechanical failure or an accident could leave you standing at the roadside waiting for assistance. When your vehicle fails, you must arrange for outside assistance to rescue both you and your vehicle.

Why choose a towing service?

If your vehicle can't move without help, a towing service is the best option unless you are very close to somewhere you can safely leave the vehicle. Unless you want to push the car for mile after mile until you reach home, call a towing company without delay. A towing company could take your vehicle to your destination, to your home, or somewhere that it can be repaired so that you can drive it away.

Towing away a broken-down car isn't the only reason to call a towing company. Sometimes, a towing company can carry out minor repairs by the roadside. They could jump-start your vehicle or replace a burst tyre. You could even ask a towing company to help you access a car after you have been locked out of it. At other times you might call a towing company to tow a working car that you must have moved from one location to another.

How to choose a towing service

Whatever your reason for calling a towing service, you must ensure that you find the best company to handle your situation. Here are three things to check before agreeing to work with any towing company.

1. Do they cover your area? Not all towing services are nationwide. If you travel widely or want your vehicle moved across the country, you must ensure that the towing service covers the entire route.

2. Can they work with your schedule? Introduce the required timescale at an early point in any discussions. Find out whether the towing company can work with your dates or required time and deliver your vehicle where it needs to be. You don't want to be stuck by the roadside or sitting at home waiting for a company that doesn't arrive at the expected time.

3. Do they have good customer service? Customer service shows itself in every interaction you have with the towing company. You can assess their customer service levels from the first call you make to the company, to the way they keep their promises when they meet you at the roadside. If you have never used a particular company before, it is worth looking up their reviews to see whether the company has a history of serving its customers well.
